Another Advocate

John 14:15-16

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you for ever. 

Lord,
I do love you.
Each day I awake part of your new creation.
I rise to follow you seeking
to do your will
to keep your commandments:
Loving God, loving others, loving one another.

Forgive me
when my following and seeking and loving
are halfhearted.

Thank you for the gift
of your Advocate, your Holy Spirit,
a much needed reminder of your love,
a constant companion of your presence,
a encourager in doubt,
a challenger in complacency,
a comfort in pain,
a wise counsel in deciding,
a voice of calling in discipleship.

Lord Jesus,
today I will need your Advocate.
Today I will need to be an advocate for another.
Empower me to be a sign of your presence at work for good.
