VBS Wednesday: God Loves!

Today is Wednesday of VBS!
Today we remember Jesus baptism
and our own baptism into God's love.

Matthew 3:13-17
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.”

Today’s story connects us with Jesus
in an extraordinary yet familiar way.
We see Jesus ready
to fulfill God’s desire for his life.
In the waters of Baptism
through the gift of the Holy Spirit,
we share that desire with Jesus.

Loving God,
thank you for the creation of this incredible dove,
which reminds us of your love.
Thank you for everyone helping with VBS today
for the heart and spirit they have for you.
You teach us how to love;
today and each day
we want to be the best imitators of your love.
Guide our words and actions today.
Help us demonstrate your love to others,
especially young others,
who may not have had much experience
receiving and giving love.
Amen.
